Easter care package 🐣🐇

Awh deployment how did we get here

2weeks in and my husband is away for Easter and he loves Easter as he’s a big choc-aholic and a even bigger kid  😄

I decided to get a little creative and make him a very tasty easter care package. When he was last deployed I made him a Halloween one, filled with Halloween treats &movies so they could still celebrate even though away from home & he loved it. Even all his colleagues got to have some treats and watch the Halloween movies  which is great for morale.
Firstly I just wanna say the whole point behind any care package is to bring the celebrations to them. Being away from home in a army camp isn’t exactly easy or nice and the funnier the better as it gives a little surprise when opened. And it’s definitely a change from boring brown box  packaging too. So the funnier and more creative the better!

Here’s what I used:

 To post

Firstly I found Dealz great for the parcels they do 2 for €1.50 on flat pack boxes which is a great deal.

To Decorate

I found Dealz and Pound shop great for easter decorations they are all in around €1 to €1.50 plus you can re use them next year.

I  used coloured tissues and glued in to middle and sides of box.

Treats

I picked up a load of different eggs in Dealz for €1.50 each and a bar of his favourite dark Chocolate in Dunnes.

For fun

EASTER CARE PACKAGE

READY FOR POST

💌

As the post gets weighed you’d be suprised how heavy solid chocolate eggs are 😄 Post cost €24 but the sales assistant said I could of fit more in for that price. Also you don’t have to buy decorations if you have children get them to draw pictures to stick to the box. It’s just all about giving a personal touch. Can’t wait to see his response when he receives it!

Happy Easter everyone 🐥

Dunmore East,Waterford – Bank Holiday Getaway

I can’t believe we are already into August. In Ireland its our bank holiday weekend the 1st weekend. I was working one day on one day off the weekend so didn’t really feel like I had a long weekend. My Husband’s Aunt Serena invited us down to Dunmore East in Waterford for the Bank Holiday weekend. His Grandmother is from this little fishing harbour so it’s a tradition to go every year. As I couldn’t make 2nights we drove down Sunday  to stay for one night when I finished work.

We arrived about 8.40pm so the drive only took us less than 2hours from Dublin via N7. It was warm and still bright so we checked into our hotel. We stayed at The Three Sisters literally 5mins away from the Harbour. Dunmore is a old fishing harbour so it’s all uphill & quaint.

We then met his aunt for dinner at The Haven hotel its a gorgeous georgian style hotel with big bay windows with a view overlooking  the ocean. I had Prawn coctail for my dinner with gluten free toasted bread & a side of mushy peas.  Random I know, but I was limited to gluten free options,I also had a glass of wine. For desert  Eaton mess & tea of course. He had a Beef Burger with side of Chips & a few beers . For desert toffee pudding  our meal cost €52 which was pretty reasonable priced.

We then walked up hill to a little pub called Powers and had a few drinks there. Its a small fishermans pub and very homely feel to it. We then walked down to The Strand Inn and stayed there for the rest of the evening. It is quite lively and has a late bar too.

                         Monday :

We woke about 11am showered because we missed breakfast we walked down to The Strand Inn for Lunch it was raining non stop which is to be expected when by the sea but we didnt allow that to ruin our plans.

We stopped on the way at The Fishermans hall the place his Grandparents 1st met at a dance he was a soldier and from Wexford and she was from a Farming Family in the harbour. I think it’s cool that this building is still being used in the town.

          Lunch at The Strand Inn

We went for lunch at The Strand Inn its literally overlooking the bay and very cosy. We both had open prawn sandwhiches which were amazing and sat watching the rain beat down on the Inn.

                Where To Stay:

Dunmore East is full of B&B’s and small boutique style hotels as the harbour attracts a lot of vistors you are best to book in advance at peak season.

My top 3 would be as follows.

    The Haven Hotel

    The Strand Inn

    The Three Sisters

Hope you all had a great weekend 🌹

Saturday Well Spent – In Dublin’s Fair City

Oh how I love a well spent Saturday. Yesterday was my day off & Graham’s Birthday gift was for Saturday night. So I made sure to get a great night sleep the night before. Friday  Night – I pampered myself the minute I got in from work I will blog post on my new fav products to have a pamper night with. Lit a few candles watched a movie. I also made sure to drink lots of water. I woke up feeling so refreshed and made a healthy breakfast to kickstart the day. I’ve recently gotten a fringe & it’s hard work to keep it at bay with my thick hair.

                 Lunch at GBK
We drove into town as we call it which is Dublin City and had some healthy dinner at  GBK Gourmet Burger Kitchen on St.William St it was delish. I always order the Grilled Chicken with Avocado without the bun and the Rosemary fries are amazing! I love this restaurants location as it is always bustling with people walking by.

       Macroons at Laurée Dublin
Then we popped into  Ladurée Dublin   to get some macroons. My little sister is an aspiring baker so I bought a box of 8 which is €16 to take home for her.

Concert : Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Live at 3Arena!

We then went to the 3Arena or as I still call it it’s orginal name The Point to see Macklemore live! I bought tickets for my hubbie in November for his birthday.
We were pretty early so we got  to see the support acts and I was delighted with our seats front row on the balcony and we could see absaloutly everything it was unreal. By far the best concert I have ever been to given the fact he has Irish relatives, he was certainly made very welcome the balcony at one point was shaking😂 and I wouldn’t mind I’m not the fan the hubbie is I think that’s why I loved it even more☺

Gotta love neon lights we look like the pink panther here 🙈

McGettigan Grill and Cookhouse – Kingswood Hotel Citywest

Today my Husband & I went for some dinner in the newly furbished and new restaurant McGettigans CookHouse & Grill . Ironically enough we had our engagement party here 3years ago pre- cookhouse and I was blown away by the transformation.

image

The cookhouse has two entrances and it is full of light with huge windows allowing natural sunlight to flow throughout it has a rustic farm house feel to it with lots of brickwork, wood and metal and copper lighting throughout.

image

image

There is a lovely landscaped garden which would be beautiful on a summers day to sit out in. Today was rainy (typical in Ireland) But none the less it made it more cosy to be inside watching rain fall.

image

We went for the 2 course meal option, Which is either starter/main course or main course/desert for €21.95

For The Man
Chicken Wings for starter
Pan seared Nicos tuna salad it was full of goodness with boiled egg, olives and a ray of protein.
For The Lady
I obviously ate some wings 😉
Grilled chicken burger (bunless)
Chocalate mousse for desert it was lovely & all Gluten Free!

image

The waitress Susan was so polite, very helpful and lovely to talk to. We would definately return we heard the bar man Connor makes a mean coctail the weekends 🍸

Little Spa Getaway – The Glenview Hotel

image

I’ve been feeling very weak, rundown and very drained lately and in serious need of pampering. A brainwave hit me during work on Friday that the last time I had a massage was the day before my wedding 10months ago and in fact I was going to book somewere to stay and squeeze a good spa break in too.

image

I thrawled the internet for a few of my favourite places to stay/pamper and then I remembered a colleague always tells me I should check out this hotel. I googled The Glenview Hotel and within 5minutes had booked a night stay with breakfast and on the following day.. Saturday 2Spa treatments. Room with breakfast was €90 but we got a upgrade for €120 and they do a great offer 2 spa treatments for €60 or 3 for €80.

               Getting There 🚘
It only took 30 mins on the M50 coming Southbound from Dublin. We arrived to a windy road up a mountain to be greeted by a well lit up beautiful exterior hotel. My Husband and I booked into the Glenview Hotel in Wicklow for 1 night stay. There was lovely porches to sit in with open lit fires and it made it so cosy.

image

             The Welcome
The receptionist was so lovely and helpful and booked us in for dinner in the bar as we were starving.  We went up to put our bags in our room and was pleanstly suprised at the size of the room you walk into a hallway with built in wardrobes and a beautiful bathroom with double sinks. Fluffy housecoats and slippers laid out and to my husband’s amusment a coffee making macheine ☕
The bedroom was so spacious  with a seating area overlooking the Glenn of the Downs mountains which the view alone is so breathtaken.

image

                  Dinner🍷🍴
We then went for dinner in the bar and being Coeliac they were more than accomidating to change anything on the menu to suit my dietary requirements. I orderd the Chicken Satay as a main with boiled rice and Bunless Beef Burger for himself.
The Sauvigon wine on the menu is gorgeous I ended up having 2 glasses of this Chilean delight!

                          Our Room 🛁
We were so tired from the week we had so we went back to the room where I filled the bath with lavender oil and had a bubble bath it was so relaxing the bath tub was a great size for my 33inch legs to strecth out.. bliss

I wrapped myself in the fluffy bathrobe and crawled into bed to watch a movie and shortly after was passed out.

image

                     Breakfast 🍉
My husband woke me by opening the curtains to a beautiful sunny day and we got up and went for breakfast the restaurant has this unbelivable 360 views of the mountains and you could sit there all day just in awe of that view!

They had a great layout for breakfast with lots of choice.
The waitress immediately took our drinks order and a huge pot of tea arrived within minutes.
I had a bowl of fresh fruit  and ordered 2 poached eggs, some baked beans and Gluten Free toast.

                   The Haven Spa🌸
My treatment was booked for half 11 and I was greeted by a lovely therapist called Angela.
I got a neck, back and shoulders massage which was amazing I didn’t realise how much tension I was carrying in my back until she worked on my muscles and it was pretty sore but I knew it would be better for me afterwards I felt instantly revived.

Then I had a facial which was so refreshing She exfoliated and massaged my face and put a face mask on and it was really uplifting I walked out feeling like I was walking on air.

image

                 The Leisure Centre🌊
We then used to Leisure Facilities and Jacuzzi, Sauna & Steam room. The pool is lovely full if large windows of that view I keep telling you about! They also have a outdoor Canadian hot tub but it was being cleaned  when there so we were a little bit dissapointed. The changing room facilities are great very tidy and private and they have a healthy snack bar at the desk which is also great as we were able to grab a snack after.

                       The Garden 🌹🌲

We then went for a walk around the grounds to check out the beautiful gardens which are well kept and so peaceful. We really enjoyed our stay and will be definately back ❤

Beating the January Blues.. with a stay at The Kildare House Hotel

So my hubbie & I decided to beat the January blues by booking a night away and then some retail theraphy at Kildare Village the following day.

image

We stayed at the newly refurbished Kildare House Hotel which is a 5minute drive from the shopping outlets.

The hotel is on a main road and when you walk in you can instantly see some beautiful features of the old house maintained in the modernistaion. Beautiful chandeliars and wide open stair case.

image

The receptionist was lovely and chatty and filled us with onformation on the area or eating in the hotels restaurant The Gallops. Which was lovely and very affordable

We dropped our bags to the room the room was spacious, well laid out, clean and had beautiful two big windows.

image

We then went for dinner in The Gallops restaurant downstairs. It was warm and welcoming with a fire lighting. The waiting staff were very polite and chatty and being a coeliac they had lots of choices for me on the menu.

image

My husband had the homemade soup which I tried it was delish and we both had mains himself a steak burger myself chicken supreme. I opted for Eaton Mess for desert.

image

Overall we had a great stay in the hotel and found the staff so welcoming and polite. Would definately reccomend paying the hotel a visit as its really a hidden gem 🙂

My Bachelorette Party Shopping Haul 💏 💍 🍸

So it’s officially 9 days until my Bridal Party💍Yay! or as we call it in Ireland “Hen’s Party” and for the guys “Stags”.I honestly do not know how us lady’s got stuck with “Hens” as a nickname for it I’ll never know 😂I think Bachelorette is better. My bridesmaid and I took a trip to Dundrum shopping Centre this eve.

image

The Theme
My theme is “Old Hollywood/Great Gatsby” for my party basically anything with lace, sequins,or feathers. Obviously being the Bride I will wear white.

image

The Outfit
Our first stop was House Of Fraser we literally took 10 minutes and cherry picked any dresses we could find in white from nearly every concession. We took every style, shape and material into consideration. Tried on them all and because I am tall I wanted a dress better suited to my body shape & height.

image

I ended up going for a Grecian style dress from Miss Selfridges the pictures do it no justice as it is fabalous in real life. It’s flattering on the bust especially if you have a bust. In nips in on the waist and then falls it a flattering cut to the knees. The material is soft but thick so it’s not very skimpy and it has thin straps and a gold detail on the straps and matching gold belt. (Which I will remove and put a more embellished sash on the waist.

image

I also fell in love with this embellished Bolero and couldn’t leave it behind what I adore about this is it’s a piece that will forever be in your wardrobe it’s well made and literally will dress up any outfit in a instant and after all Gatsby era was all  about  embellishment.

image

I also picked up a pair of small block heeled shoes in Penneys these are super comfortable, and versatile as I am sure I’ll be dancing all night. Im opting for comfort over fashion on this one.Plus they were only €15 so you can’t go wrong.

image

I plan on themeing it with a feather boa, satin gloves and a Gatsby art decoration head piece 💎

Will post pictures after my party 💏
